Abstract :
Wireless communication in the form of mobile telephones and pagers has become an essential requirement to many organisations ranging from business to emergency services.  Wireless services are driven by the requirements for high traffic capacity and continuous service, reaching for line-telephone quality.  The need for high capacity dictates that the radio spectrum must by used as efficiently as possible.  To try and increase this capacity we are investigating two possible solutions.  These are developing accurate microcell propagation prediction models and also improving channel allocation.
